What are the Coyotes’ big plans for the summer?
2024 was Brat Summer. Charli XCX was our whole playlist for three months and then we never listened again. 2025 was what some might call a “labubu” and “performative” summer.
But what’s this summer?
Gigi Bruce-Low (’29) said she thinks it will be all about “beachy and warm!!” and another student thought it would be a “WAVE OF AWESOMENESSSSSS.” This summer, there might be a comeback of an old trend or maybe something new. But whatever the theme ends up being, we all know SA students are going to be making the most of it.
There’s so much to do every summer, and every summer is different, from the people you hang out with to where you go to what you see. It could be the sport you love continuing through the summer, or heading all over the world, or adventuring with your friends.
Sports never stop for some. For Casey Pasdach (’27), rowing is a big part of life. This year, Pasdach said, “I will spend the start of my summer working at a boat rental center, interning at my rowing club’s summer camps.”
Similarly, Lorelai Trinidad Sinnes (‘27) shared that they “will be an assistant coach for a fencing club [they] go to.”
Sometimes we do a little for our sport and sometimes we do a lot, and some students will do anything for a sport they love.
If you’re looking for fun things that others are doing that you can try, there are many options. Anja Nielsen (‘28) recommended a day at Six Flags. Others, like Hazel Park (‘29) and Cezzie Lenihan (‘29), recommended hiking and long days at the beach.
You don’t need a big budget to hang out with friends or to relax and enjoy your summer. You really just need to be with people you enjoy.
Lenihan said she plans to “chill at the beach and hang out with friends,” and Avery Cline (‘26) said she hopes to “spend time with friends and family.” It’s not the destination or what you’re doing that’s important; it’s who you’re with, and that’s what this summer is really all about.
Before the Class of ‘26 becomes their colleges’ Class of ‘30, they have big adventures planned. Quinn Mahoney (‘26) said, “I’m hoping to go on a road trip with a group of friends,” while others are focused on getting all packed and ready. For some, saying goodbye is already on their minds. It will be an eventful summer for this year’s seniors.
For many students, summer isn’t just a time to enjoy hanging out with friends and to have a break from school; it’s also a time to learn new things and prepare for the future. That’s what so many of the rising seniors are doing this summer.
Other students, especially current juniors, are doing summer programs and internships and getting ready for college applications. Amelia Butkus (‘27) is planning on going to “going to Montreal to visit family” and going to “a summer program at Syracuse University.”
There are also events happening at Sonoma Academy this summer, like Geometry classes, or the summer camps. Sarika Satish (‘26) said she’s “doing an internship at SA.”
Students are also helping with the Junior Mean Girls musical production, like Alec Singer (‘26) or Luisa Cholas (‘27), who is going to be the Stage Manager and Production Coordinator.
Everybody’s excited for the summer, no matter what opportunities they have right now. From beach days to road trips to even packing for college and saying goodbye to friends and family, it will be an eventful summer for every single Sonoma Academy student.
